Through the AFL Sporting Schools program, we aim to introduce students to Australian Football through fun, engaging and challenging games and activities that are suited and adapted for a range of age groups and skill levels. Our Sporting Schools program options include Coach-delivered (delivered by AFL staff), or Teacher-Led (delivered by Teachers) programs.
FUN FACTS ON THE AFL SPORTING SCHOOLS PROGRAM
- Our sport is adaptable and can be run at any time of the year (not just restricted to winter)
- You don’t need an AFL oval, posts or even a big space to run an AFL program; we can modify to indoor & small spaces if needed
- We can cater to all abilities, including programming for support needs and modifications for students with additional needs
HOW TO APPLY
If you’d like to have an AFL Sporting Schools program run at your school, apply through the button below and if successful in your funding application, select "AFL" as your chosen sport. One of our AFL staff members will be in touch to finalise your booking details.
COACH-DELIVERED PROGRAMS
This AFL incursion is delivered by our trained AFL staff who have undertaken safeguarding children training and have relevant S/T Working with Children Checks. The programming has a focus on practising the core skills of the game as well as having lots of fun along the way.
TEACHER-LED PROGRAMS
The AFL teacher-led program provides teachers with lesson plans and resources to run an entire AFL unit. The lessons include a how-to-guide, written to reflect best practice, evidenced-based pedagogy and includes assessment tools. In addition, an AFL incursion coordinator can be on hand to support teachers to successfully deliver the module, if requested, can include the delivery of ONE practical session and guidance throughout.
