AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE AFL9'S TERMS OF PARTICIPATION

These terms along with a completed registration form (Form) make up the terms on which you agree to participate in the AFL 9's program as described at www.afl9s.com.au (Program).

 

1. Application to Participate

(a)      In order to participate in the AFL 9's program the participant must:

i.          Complete the online registration form; and

ii.         Agree to comply with the Code of Behaviour.

(b)      The AFL will not:

i.          Process any Application that is incomplete, incorrect, unclear or damaged; or

ii.         Accept any changes to the Application, except for a change of contact details.

 

2. Registration Fees

(a)      The AFL accepts registration fees on behalf of teams (rather than individuals) for participation in AFL 9's. 

(b)      The registration fees notionally cover individual participation. Participants must register their details to be covered under the AFL Insurance Scheme.  Until such time that a player has completed their registration it is the responsibility of the team captain/manager to keep a record of all unregistered players who participate.

 

3. Cancellation, Refunds and Termination

(a)      If you wish to cancel your Application, you must notify the AFL in writing.

(b)      The AFL is not liable to you for any loss or damage you suffer as a result of the Program being cancelled, postponed or changed.

(c)      The AFL may terminate your involvement in the Program on reasonable grounds at any time, including if your behaviour interferes with other participant's safety or enjoyment of the Program.

 

4. Privacy

(a)      The personal information that the AFL collects on the registration form is used for the purpose of processing your request for participation in the Program.

(b)      The AFL may also use or disclose your information to AFL Clubs and 3rd parties for the purposes of research, development and marketing in accordance with the AFL's Privacy Policy available at http://www.aflcommunity.com.au/index.php?id=189.

 

5. Photographs

You consent to the AFL using your name or image (including photograph) in any form or medium for general marketing and promotional activities.

If you do not wish to consent to your image in any form or medium to be used for general marketing and promotional activities, you acknowledge that you must contact your Club or League Administrator.

 

6. Limitation of Liability and Release

(a)      You understand that there are inherent risks associated with participation in the Program, which may result in personal injury (even of a serious nature) to participants and that you fully accept and agree to bear those risks.

(b)      You agree not to bring any claim or proceeding against the AFL for any damage, loss or injury whatsoever that you may suffer from participation in the Program.

(c)      The AFL's liability to you is limited (at the AFL's election) to the AFL supplying or resupplying any Program services to which you are entitled in accordance with the terms of this Agreement.

(d)      You understand that as a registered player participating in an AFL Recreational Football competition you are entitled to certain Sports Injury Insurance benefits available at http://afl.jltsport.com.au/recreational.aspx.. You accept that the level of cover provided to you as a player is the level chosen by the Australian Football League and does not include 'Gap' Insurance.

 

7. General

(a)      The AFL may reject or choose not to accept a registration in its absolute discretion, including if there are insufficient numbers to stage the Program or there are too many participants in the Program.

(b)      The AFL may change any dates, session times, durations and locations of the Program at any time and without notice.

 

CODE OF BEHAVIOUR

By registering in the AFL 9's competition you have agreed to adhere to the code of behaviour including:

(a)      play in accordance with the rules of the game;

(b)      never argue with an official. If you disagree with a decision, you should ask the team manager to approach the official during a break or after the competition;

(c)      control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials and sledging other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviours in any sport and may be a breach of your state, league or national Member Protection Policy available at http://aflcommunityclub.com.au/index.php?id=211;

(d)      never engage in any type of violence either on or off the field;

(e)      work equally hard for yourself and your team. The team's performance will benefit, and so will the yours;

(f)       be a good sport. Applaud all good plays whether they are made by their team or the opposition;

(g)      treat all participants as you would like to be treated. Do not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor;

(h)      co-operate with your coaches, team-mates and opponents. Without them there would be no competition;

(i)       participate for your own enjoyment and benefit and for the enjoyment and benefit of your teammates; not to please anyone else.

(j)       respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of the gender, ability, cultural background or religion;

(k)      not take part in any form of bullying including via the use of social media. For more information see your state, league or national Member Protection Policy;

(l)       be prepared to be responsible for your actions.

 

UNDER 18's

Where the Player is under 18 years of age, by completing this registration application, the parent or guardian of the Player:

(a)      acknowledges that he or she has read and explained the contents of this registration application to the Player;

(b)      consents to the Player playing subject to the Terms and Conditions of Participation in this registration application;

(c)      declares that the statements made in the registration application are, to the best of their knowledge and belief, true and correct.
