FOOTY RACE TRACK

Kicking, handballing and marking; practise footy skills for the field in one activity!

AFL Football Gear Each Pair 2 x1 football
AFL Gear Cone x2 cones
AFL Gear Adult x1 adult

HOW TO SET UP

Two cones about 10m apart with two Auskickers lining up on one cone and the adult on the opposite cone, holding the football

STEP 1

The adult rolls the ball to one of the Auskickers who picks it up, handballs it back and runs the " footy racetrack": around the adult and back to the starting point, where the partner then has their go.

STEP 2

Follow up handballs with kicks. Even see if some Auskickers can handball or kick the footy on the run ( move cones further apart if doing this).

STEP 3

For Auskickers who like a challenge, they can practise catching the footy above their head (overhead mark) or some speccy marks

To do this, adult holds the ball up nice and high and lets the Auskicker grab the ball as they approach and give it back, when they turn the corner around the cone.

STEP 4

Now the Auskickers have got the hang of it, see how many laps of the racetrack they can do in a set of time, e.g. in 30 seconds!

While Auskickers practice things like gathering the ball, marking and passing the ball on the run, they can also see many differnet ways the football bounces, which keeps them guessing!
